UC Satellite

The University Center Satellite is an underground hybrid food court in

The UC Satellite is an extension of the University Center and contains a variety of restaurants for students to choose from. Like Fresh Foods, it appears to keep its lights on well after closing as well. During this project we learned that the High Ceiling Area uses incandescent bulbs and the Seating Area uses Halogen bulbs; both are in the process of switching to CREE LED bulbs.  Below are the hours of operation:

Monday-Thursday: 7:00am-7:00pm

Friday: 7:00am-4:00pm

Saturday and Sunday: CLOSED

If the university were to switch from the incandescent bulbs in the High Ceiling Area to Compact Fluorescent, there surprisingly isn’t any savings; instead there is a gain of $436.04 as opposed to the savings of $5818.55 if the school were to switch to CREE LED bulbs. When looking at the Seating Area in the UC Satellite, the school would save $2430.90 from switching from Halogen bulbs to Compact Fluorescents and $4350.98 from switching to CREE LED bulbs.
